Method of socket pipe fittings
Die forging
For small size pipe fittings such as ASTM Forged Socket Pipe Fittings From Shengtian and threaded tee, four-way, elbow, etc., the shape is relatively complex, so die forging process should be adopted to manufacture them.
The blanks used for die forging shall be rolled profiles, such as bars, thick-walled tubes or sheets. When ingot is used as raw material, the ingot should be rolled into bar in advance or used as die forging billet after forging in order to eliminate segregation and looseness in ingot.
The blank is heated and then put into the die for forging. The pressure makes the metal flow and fill the die cavity. If there is a flash, the blank after forging must go through the steps of punching the remainder of the flash to complete all the forging work.
Free forging
Free forging process can be used to manufacture special shaped socket pipe fittings or pipe fittings unsuitable for die forging. Free forging should forge the general shape of the pipe.
(3) Cutting
For some tubular parts with cylindrical shape, they can be directly machined by bar or thick-walled pipe, such as socket pipe fittings. The fibre flow direction of metal material should be roughly parallel to the axial direction of socket pipe fittings during processing.
